Fernando Alonso's performances since his F1 return have drawn the attention of the entire paddock, as the 41-year-old continues to drive at the highest level. 

The Double Champion has shown the same relentlessness and speed from earlier in his career, producing occasional moments of magic in his A522 machine.

Alonso still has the pull to attract interest and multi-year deals in F1 and will hope that his most recent move to Aston Martin can prove sceptics wrong.

Helmut Marko is one of those surprised by Alonso's level this season, telling the Austrian outlet oe24.at about the impressiveness of the Spaniard:

Marko has correctly identified the importance of Aston Martin's development for Alonso, who will rely on the Silverstone team to make significant improvements next season. 

The recent investment into Aston Martin and acquisition of former Red Bull and Mercedes engineers no doubt played a role in convincing Alonso to make the switch. 

Aston Martin's willingness to meet the Spaniard's terms for a long-term deal was undoubtedly crucial in Alonso putting pen to paper. This contract will allow Alonso to continue his push for silverware and a return to more competitive machinery.
