Fernando Alonso will be bitterly disappointed that he has lost points due to yet another reliability problem, as vibrations after his first VSC stop compromised his afternoon.

On a weekend that saw Alpine equal McLaren's points tally in the constructors, the French squad had the opportunity to take a double-digit lead over the Enstone rivals, as a charging Alonso found himself P9 after his stop for Mediums.

However, an issue with the stop forced Alonso to come into the pits on two consecutive laps, pushing Alonso from 9th into 14th and destroying the Spaniard's prospects for a strong points haul.

The Double World Champion gave his thoughts post-race:

"I was P6 until the double stop at the end, so from P6 to P10. So another eight points in the bin today.

"I think the wheel was okay but I had huge vibrations on that set, so we needed to see what was there and I had to stop again.

"I was P14 when I was going out, instead of the eighth that I think I could have been, and from P14 we took some places until P10.

"It was good fun and the car was mega fast today, starting 19th and the possibility of finishing for sixth means a lot for us. But the points keep avoiding us, but still good fun."

Whilst the Spaniard has again lost points due to circumstances beyond his control, he will be pleased that the A522 has shown the speed to consistently fight for strong points.
